Now nurses of all levels ( LPN, RN, NP ) may enter the world of aesthetic medicine through the Division of Medical Aesthetics and receive specialized training in aesthetics, clinical skin care, and medical aesthetics.

Medical Aesthetics requires an aesthetician to understand a specialized body of knowledge integrated to work with a individuals  facial qualms from a sound clinical basis and provide aesthetic procedures performed without medication.

Medical Aesthetics is a concept for nurses, aestheticians and physicians to work together  to address the aesthetic concerns without necessitating needless medication or pushing them to have surgery without having proper preventive skin care procedures  as a first line of defense.

There are many physicians using the terminology but really are just promoting their products behind the scenes . Some physicians just do not have the proper knowledge of aesthetics in order to have a comprehensive skin care program. Some nurses get on the band wagon to keep their job security. Some aestheticians fall into the trap of having to do what the nurse and physician tell them  what to do which is generally not a whole lot more than selling products. This is a sad situation when it was aestheticians whom embarked upon this concept to begin bridging the gap between medicine and beauty. Physicians generally want absolute control in an area that aestheticians can build with them or without them. In 1987, the Aestheticians International Association presented an aesthetician and physician to speak on behalf of the concepts for " Bridging the Gap". Since then growth has been insidiously growing.

Aestheticians are not hairdressers, although there are some cosmetologists that have learned aesthetics through their experiences.

Medical Aesthetics is a strong foundation for the practice of aesthetic medicine embracing entrepreneurs of varied licensures to reach beyond standards of medicine and aesthetic knowledge to create a world of healing.
