Skin Care Specialists are licensed aestheticians that performs non-invasive facial aesthetic procedures within a general salon environment and more recently are working within Medical Spas. A licensed skin care specialist are aestheticians that obtained their basic 750-1200 hours for aesthetics, passed exams and have achieved a state level license. A certain segment of aestheticians have also garnered a vast amount of advanced clinical skills as it relates to Medical Aesthetics.
Licensed Skin Care Professionals are sometimes dual trained and are graduated from nursing ( LPN/RN ). These skin care specialists have augmented their nursing background and have completed their specialized training for Facial Aesthetics. Once they have completed their Aesthetics Certification/license then they received specialized training through Medical Aesthetics FACE®.
This is a very specialized Nurse-Aesthetician prepared for Medical Aesthetics Practice. Licensed Skin Care Specialists can have their own practice, spa, or consulting firm. They work with physicians of varied medical backgrounds. The physician could be a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, Ob-Gyn surgeon and/or Family Practice doctor.They are an exceptional skin care specialist that have been trained both the general aesthetics skills and have learned how to apply their specialized certification to the basic conceptual synthesis for the Patient-Client-Patron Theory.
Aestheticians are unique body of skin care specialists. They have had to struggle much in the same way of nursing from their inception of becoming recognized as professional team approach to the Medical Practice. An aesthetician has been struggling for idenity, recognition, validation and stronger educational standards than are mostly offered within the umbrella of Cosmetology. It will be a matter of time before they will be able to reach this goal.
